Frequently asked questions

Direct answers to the questions we hear most. If you still have doubts, reach out on WhatsApp.

  1. What do you do at Akwatica?

At Akwatica we combine different aquatic bodywork techniques into an integrated experience. The session includes hydrotherapy, Watsu, breathwork and mobility techniques, guided by dedicated facilitators in the heated pool. The combination adapts to what each person needs at the moment — more relaxation, more movement, or more inner listening.

  2. What is Watsu?

Watsu (water shiatsu) is a form of aquatic bodywork developed in California in the 1980s. The facilitator supports the client in heated water and guides gentle movements, stretches and mobilizations. It blends shiatsu, craniosacral therapy and aquatic dance to induce deep relaxation.

  3. What is hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy is the therapeutic use of heated water for bodywork. Buoyancy reduces weight on joints and muscles, warmth relaxes deep tissue, and movement in water eases range of motion without effort. At Akwatica we offer individual hydrotherapy with dedicated facilitators.

  4. What are the benefits of hydrotherapy?

Benefits come from the combination of warm water, buoyancy and effortless movement. Most reported effects: deep muscular tension release, joint and lower back pain relief, better sleep quality, nervous system regulation (shifting from alert to rest state), greater body awareness, and a general sense of lightness and mental clarity that can last days after the session.

  5. Does Watsu help with chronic back pain?

Yes. The combination of buoyancy (which removes weight from the spine) with gentle mobilizations led by the facilitator lets us work the lumbar and cervical regions without the effort land-based work would require. Many people report significant relief after the first session — though lasting results come with regular practice. For chronic pain, declare the condition before the session so the facilitator can adapt the work.

  6. Do I need to know how to swim?

No. The facilitator supports your head and body throughout the entire session. You only need to relax and let yourself be guided. Even people afraid of water can do the session with initial adjustment — the work is especially recommended for people with barriers around water.

  7. Are there medical restrictions? Can I do it while pregnant?

Declaring any health condition before the session is mandatory — pregnancy, cardiac issues, recent injuries, neurological conditions, among others. The facilitator assesses each case and may decline the session if a risk is identified. For specific situations, such as people with any kind of disability, please reach out on WhatsApp before booking — that way we can prepare the best adaptation.

  8. How long is a session?

Each individual session lasts 1 hour, but total time at Akwatica is at least 1 hour and 30 minutes. You can stay for tea afterwards and enjoy the beautiful Cerrado view. The group session (when available) lasts approximately 2 hours.

  9. What should I bring to the session?

Swimwear (bikini, swim trunks, swimsuit), a large towel, flip-flops and something comfortable to wear afterwards — people usually leave the water deeply relaxed and want to stay cosy. A water bottle is useful. Vita Park has changing rooms. Avoid heavy meals in the 2 hours before the session.

  10. How much does a session cost?

The price for an individual session is available on the booking page. Residents of Chapada dos Veadeiros get a different rate. Check current prices when booking.

  11. Where is Akwatica located?

The Akwatica pool is inside Vita Park, in Alto Paraíso de Goiás, Chapada dos Veadeiros (GO), Brazil. View on Google Maps: https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Vita+Park+Alto+Para%C3%ADso+de+Goi%C3%A1s. For detailed directions, contact us on WhatsApp.

  12. How do I book?

  13. Can I cancel and get a refund?
